O prêmio Origins principalmente entre os fãs dos jogos de RPG gera certa espectativa, ele é julgado por um juri especializado (Academia de Artes e Design dos Jogos de Aventura ou Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design) e não por voto popular como o Ennie. Claro que os dois prêmios são duas importantes premiações anuais, cada uma com uma forma diferente (e importante) de avaliar um produto. No Origins muitas das vezes, como em 2009, gera boas polêmicas em seu resultado. Após derrubar o popular Dungeons and Dragons quarta edição em favor do indie e bonitão Mouse Guard RPG como o Melhor Jogo de RPG do ano, longas e longas discussões surgiram principalmente entre os fãs de D&D sobre a validade do prêmio. A grande verdade é que no julgamento feito por um juri, “popularidade” não tem tanto peso o que torna o prêmio Origins uma fonte “mais imparcial” podendo até mesmo ir contra o gosto popular do momento, por isso mesmo merece toda atenção daqueles que adoram jogos de RPG.
